Rice with European organic olives, a traditional delicious U.A.E dish

One of the most favorite plates in United Arab Emirates is the delicious rice with European organic olives!! Lets see the recipe!!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups long-grain basmati rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup European organic olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup European organic olives, pitted and sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the Rice:

    • Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.
  2. Soak the Rice:

    • Place the rinsed rice in a bowl and cover it with water. Let it soak for about 30 minutes. This helps the rice cook more evenly.
  3. Prepare the Aromatics:

    • In a large pot, heat the European organic olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and continue to sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the Spices:

    • Stir in the ground cumin, ground coriander, ground turmeric, and ground cinnamon. Cook for another 2 minutes to allow the spices to release their flavors.
  5. Cook the Rice:

    • Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Stir the rice to coat it evenly with the aromatic mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes to slightly toast the rice.
  6. Add Water:

    • Pour in 4 cups of water and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  7. Fluff the Rice:

    • Once the rice is cooked, use a fork to fluff it gently, separating the grains.
  8. Add Olives:

    • Gently fold in the sliced European organic olives, distributing them evenly throughout the rice.
  9. Serve:

    • Transfer the Arabic rice with European organic olives to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
  10. Enjoy:

    • Serve the rice as a flavorful side dish alongside grilled meats or vegetables. This dish pairs well with a side of yogurt or a fresh salad.
