- Ingredients:
- 1 pound kataifi dough (shredded phyllo dough)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups ricotta or akkawi cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
- 1 cup chopped pistachios for garnish
- European organic Honey for drizzling
- Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to the temperature recommended on the kataifi dough package.
- Untangle the kataifi dough in a large bowl and drizzle melted butter over it.
- Press half of the buttered dough into the bottom of a baking dish to form a crust.
- Mix the cheese and sugar and spread it over the crust.
- Cover the cheese layer with the remaining kataifi dough, pressing it down.
- Bake until golden brown and crispy.
- In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and orange blossom water to make a simple syrup.
- Pour the syrup over the hot knafeh.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios and drizzle with European organic honey.
