National Organic Association

National Organic Association was established in March 2018 as a non-profit organisation.
One of the main objectives of the association is to promote the growth of exports and to increase the competitiveness of Bulgarian organic products on international markets.

Other objectives include:

  • support the manufacturing or farming of organic products and their promotion and/or their processing in Bulgaria or abroad.
  • provide better economic opportunities to the producers of organic raw materials or products through the improvement or the creation of better conditions.
  • increase quality and competitiveness of the production of organic food or raw materials
  • strengthen the ties between producers/farmers, consumers or traders of organic raw materials and products in Bulgaria and abroad
  • increase the loyalty in the competitiveness between the manufacturers/ farmers of organic products
  • establish conditions for the optimal economic effect in the farming/manufacturing and trade with organic products
To achieve these goals the Union carries out the following activities:

  • Represents the interests of the members to the government and local authorities, public organizations and media.
  • acts as a mediator in establishing business contacts in the country and abroad
  • develops and popularizes a trade mark for organic products on the Bulgarian market
  • develops and introduces technologies for organic farming and organic plant or animal breeding for the production of organic food
  • assists the members in identifying sources of financing and in establishing contacts with them organizes specialized courses and trainings
  • organizes seminars, working meetings and conferences
  • encourages best practice exchange among the members and with other organisations in the country and abroad
  • popularises the aims of the association through media publications and advertisements.
  • submits proposals for legislative changes and issue statements on the current legislation to contribute the solution of the problems, obstructing the sectoral development.
  • maintains close contacts with educational bodiesschools and universities - in relation to trainings or development or testing of new technologies, cultivation practices, products

The Members of NAO sustainable practices:

  • do not use chemical pesticides,
  • recycling organic waste,
  • use naturally occurring pest replant that are non-toxic
  • are familiar that the new innovative techniques can also accelerate the process of
  • reducing dependency on pesticides
  • use quality seeds for plant varieties
  • tackling food loss and waste, recovery of nutrients and secondary raw materials respect the rules of the animal welfare according to the EU Regulations
  • do not use antimicrobials for farmed animals
