Biocarpathia Cooperative
BioCarpathia Cooperative is located in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains on the Transylvanian Lands, at the confluence of the germanic, hungarian and romanian secular cultures. We revitalize the traditions and customs in livestock cultivation and enhancement of organic products, helping to protect th environment. Bio Carpathia Cooperativa Agricola is based in Romania, with the head office in BRASOV.
BioCarpathia Cooperative produces and sells on the Romanian and EU, traditional cheeses and dairy products, meat and raw-dried, obtained by capitalizing on traditional recipes, handed down from generation to generation, in the 700 years of these communities existence.
The products offered by Cooperative Biocarpathia respect all provisions of European Union legislation, on traceability and food safety rules imposed by HACCP standards. Organoleptic product quality and excellence Cooperative Biocarpathia highlight the terroir qualities - spontaneous flora, soil and pure mountain water.
Bio Carpathia is an agricultural cooperative in Transylvania that brings together 52 organic dairy and meet farms and is currently the largest organic producer of milk and meat in Romania.
From a milk production of 3 600 000 liters / year and 6500kg / year of organic meat delivered as raw material to the big processors, starting 2018, the cooperative launches on the Romanian market finished products processed on the foods hortchain (dairy products and beef or sheep’s products) by eliminating a number of intermediaries in the supply chain to the benefit of end-users.
Our farms are located in the mountain and hill areas of Brasov and Covasna counties known for high quality grazing (species density exceeds 120 species / sqm) and the animals are reared in organic farming and fed with hay, alfalfa and organic rapegrains and sunflower. The entire production, processing and marketing activity meets the standards of EC Regulation 834/2007 on ecological production being certified by Ecocert Romania. Bio Carpathia Cooperativa Agricola reported a net sales revenue increase of 11.39%
Sustainable practices
The Members of Biocarpathia:
• do not use chemical pesticides,
• recycling organic waste,
• use naturally occurring pest replant that are non-toxic
• are familiar that the new innovative techniques can also accelerate the process of
• reducing dependency on pesticides
• use quality seeds for plant varieties
• tackling food loss and waste, recovery of nutrients and secondary raw materials
• respect the rules of the animal welfare according to the EU Regulations
• do not use antimicrobials for farmed animals
